Meanwhile, elephants within a landscape dominated by oil palm plantations mainly ate the cultivated oil palm crops. This may expose them to conflicts. "Our findings highlight that elephants are highly adaptable eaters, but this flexibility often leads them to human-dominated landscapes, increasing the risk of conflict", said Mohammad Saiful Mansor, lead author of the study from the National University of Malaysia, to David Brown, of Mongabay.
